Helping Hands of Columbus exists to meet real needs with real solutions. As the 501(c)(3) outreach of The Life Church of Columbus, we serve underserved youth, adults, and families through emergency food and clothing assistance, free mental health and spiritual counseling, and youth enrichment programs that build life skills and confidence.

Each week, our food pantry and clothing bank support hundreds in our community. Each year, thousands are served through our Thanksgiving Food Giveaway. During the Christmas season, we provide coats and blankets to individuals experiencing homelessness. What began as a response to need has grown into a steady, trusted source of hope and practical support in Columbus.

We do more than distribute resources. We create access. Our computer lab supports job searches, GED preparation, and workforce development. Our volunteers and staff serve both onsite and throughout the community to ensure that no one is left behind.

Our Mission

The mission of Helping Hands of Columbus is to strengthen underserved youth, adults, and families by:

Providing emergency food and clothing assistance to meet immediate needs.
Offering free mental health and spiritual counseling to restore hope and stability.
Delivering youth enrichment programs, including music instruction, life skills training, and summer camps that build confidence, character, and leadership.

We carry out this mission through dedicated employees and volunteers who serve both within our facility and throughout the community. Our work is sustained through grants, sponsorships, fundraisers, and charitable donations.

Through practical support, education, and compassionate care, Helping Hands of Columbus advances its charitable purpose by addressing basic needs, promoting emotional and spiritual well-being, and equipping the next generation to flourish.

Helping Hands of Columbus was founded with a simple commitment: meet real needs in real time. As the 501(c)(3) outreach of The Life Church of Columbus, the organization has consistently responded to the evolving needs of the community with direct action and measurable impact.

A Lifeline During COVID-19

When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted jobs, schools, and daily life, Helping Hands of Columbus stepped forward without hesitation.

Nearly 500 bags of groceries were distributed weekly during the height of the pandemic.
Families facing layoffs and uncertainty found stability through consistent food access.
Our team of staff and volunteers became a trusted resource during one of the most difficult seasons in recent history.

During this same period, our computer lab transformed into an educational hub.

Children used the space weekly to complete virtual schoolwork and homework assignments.
Today, that same lab supports adults and youth with job searches, GED preparation, workforce training, and digital access—bridging opportunity gaps that still exist post-pandemic.

Annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway

Since 2019, Helping Hands of Columbus has hosted its Annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway, serving thousands of individuals and families each year.

Families receive full Thanksgiving meals.
Seniors, single parents, and underserved households gain dignity and relief during the holiday season.
The initiative has become a cornerstone event in the Columbus community.

Christmas Outreach: Warmth for the Winter

Each Christmas season, Helping Hands of Columbus ensures that hundreds of homeless and at-need individuals receive:

Coats
Blankets
Essential winter items

This outreach provides more than warmth. It restores hope and reminds recipients that they are seen and valued.

Ongoing Weekly Support

Beyond seasonal programs, Helping Hands of Columbus operates:

A weekly food pantry serving hundreds of individuals and families.
A clothing bank providing essential garments to those in need.

Week after week, volunteers and staff work both onsite and within the community to ensure that no one walks away without support.
